This week in honor of Black History Month I wanted to pay homage to actress and singer Dorothy Jean Dandridge (November 9, 1922-September 8, 1965). She is remembered most for her leading roles in Carmen Jones and Porgy and Bess. Dandridge was the first African-American to be nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. Dandridge always had stunning grace and exemplified . Although her life ended abruptly and a few decades ago her style and fashion sense is still adored and emulated by millions today.
