Remembering Etta James (1938-2012)

Legendary artist Etta James was born Jamesetta Hawkins in 1938. Known for fusing rock and roll and rhythm and blues is most notably known for her hits “At Last” and “I’d Rather Go Blind”. James caught her big break at only 14 when she was discovered by musician Johnny Otis who took her under his wing. She recorded and coauthored her first hit “Dance With Me Henry” in 1955. James went on to win 6 Grammy’s, 17 Blues Music Awards, and was included in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1993.
